Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Squaredle collects when you play, and how it's used. The game works with no account and no sign-up, so there isn't much to collect in the first place.
Information We Collect
We don't require an account, and we don't ask for your name, email, or any other personal information to play.
Game progress. Your found words, hints used, and puzzle timer are saved using your browser's local storage, on your own device. This data never leaves your browser, and we have no access to it.
Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and troubleshooting. We don't use these logs to identify individual visitors.
Cookies & Local Storage
We use your browser's local storage — not cookies — to remember your puzzle progress. Google Analytics (see below) does set its own cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions, and ad partners may also set cookies when ads are shown.
Third-Party Services
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — things like which pages are viewed and how long people stay — so we can improve it. Google Analytics collects information such as your approximate location, device and browser type, and pages visited; it does not receive your name, email, or any other information that could identify you personally. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles this data.
We may also show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or aboutads.info for other ad partners.
Children's Privacy
Squaredle is not directed at children under 13. As noted above, we don't collect personal information from any visitor, regardless of age.
Data Security
Because gameplay data stays in your browser's local storage rather than on our servers, there's no central database of player data to secure. Standard web security practices apply to the site itself.
Your Choices
You can clear your saved puzzle progress at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
